Nick Wayth is the CEO of the Energy Institute, where he provides executive leadership and drives the strategic vision for the global organisation. He is responsible for steering its influence, growth, and impact at the highest levels of the energy sector. His role focuses on fostering industry transformation, championing innovation, and ensuring the Institute remains the definitive voice for energy professionals worldwide.
All are welcome, but pre-registration is required.
Methane is emerging as a critical battleground in the global energy transition. As the second-most potent greenhouse gas with 25 times the heat-trapping power of CO₂ over a 100-year timescale, methane emissions from the energy sector represent both a climate risk and a market opportunity for decarbonization strategies. With the government, regulators, and energy majors tightening compliance requirements, action is no longer optional. Yet detection and mitigation technologies are evolving rapidly, creating unprecedented opportunities for competitive differentiation.
What does the future of methane management look like? How are energy companies balancing emissions reduction with operational efficiency? And what role can emerging technologies play in transforming how we detect, monitor, and eliminate methane leaks?
To find out how we can answer these questions, join our event hosted as part of the Energy Institute’s flagship conference, International Energy Week (10-12 February 2026), this year under the theme of “Growth and security in an increasingly disordered energy transition”.
Expect a thought-provoking panel discussion with experts from policy and regulation, investment, upstream owner and technology providers, followed by an interactive game where you will have the chance to apply the newly learnt knowledge.
All are welcome, but pre-registration is required.
Following an expert-led panel exploring the future of methane management, join us for an engaging, hands-on workshop designed for young professionals to put theory into practice. Acting as operators, participants will work in small teams to evaluate and select technologies to reduce methane emissions and leaks, balancing factors such as facility age, production rates, carbon pricing, cost, and risk. This dynamic exercise will challenge you to think strategically about investment decisions in a rapidly evolving regulatory and technological landscape.
Drinks and canapés will be served throughout the workshop, creating a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere where you can network with peers and industry experts while tackling real-world decarbonization challenges.
